Connecticut PSI Exam Guide

Connecticut Real Estate Exam Prep

Understand the PSI exam format, what to study, and how SB School's 60-hour live course gives you the best chance of passing on your first attempt.

The Connecticut real estate salesperson exam is administered by PSI Exams and consists of two portions: a national section covering general real estate principles and a Connecticut-specific section covering state law, DCP regulations, and local practice. You must pass both portions to earn your license.

At SB School of Real Estate, our 60-hour Principles & Practice course is built around the exam blueprint. Instructor Sherina Baker — a licensed Connecticut real estate professional with decades of experience — covers every topic tested on the PSI exam, with real-world examples that make the material stick.

Study Tips from Instructor Sherina Baker

  1. 1

    Attend every live class session

SB School's course is taught live on Zoom — not recorded videos. The live format lets you ask questions in real time and hear how concepts apply to actual Connecticut transactions.

  2. 2

Take notes in your own words

Rewriting concepts in plain language forces you to process the material rather than passively read it. Focus especially on vocabulary — the exam tests precise definitions.

  3. 3

    Practice math problems daily

Commission calculations, proration, loan-to-value ratios, and transfer taxes appear on every exam. Work through practice problems until the formulas are automatic.

  4. 4

    Review Connecticut-specific rules separately

Many students lose points on the state portion because they study general principles but overlook CT-specific rules. Dedicate extra review time to DCP regulations and Connecticut agency law.

  5. 5

    Use the PSI candidate handbook

PSI publishes a free candidate handbook with the exact exam content outline. Download it from candidate.psiexams.com and use it as your study checklist.
